I work across painting, works on paper, collage, artist books, fiber art, and sculpture. My process is intuitive and begins without a predetermined structure. I start with color, gesture, line, material, and instinct, responding to what happens rather than working toward a fixed image.

As a work develops, structures begin to emerge: pathways, compartments, repeated forms, boundaries, clusters, fragments, and points of connection. I respond to those structures as they appear, sometimes reinforcing them and sometimes allowing them to bend, fracture, disappear, or change entirely.

Most often, I begin without a plan. Structure emerges through the making, and the work develops through a continual negotiation between instinct, order, and change.

That process reflects my interest in the ways we create systems to understand and organize experience. Roles, expectations, routines, identities, and boundaries can provide coherence and stability, yet lived experience rarely remains contained within them. Desire, memory, uncertainty, grief, aging, contradiction, and change continually complicate the structures we build.

Across media, I return to line, pathways, compartments, fragments, nodes, wrapping, and open space. These elements allow ideas of containment, movement, connection, and resistance to shift between two and three dimensions. Color and material are active forces within the work, capable of creating rhythm, tension, interruption, and release.

I am interested in how order emerges from uncertainty, how forms resist containment, and how a structure changes when it can no longer hold what is happening within it.
